Happy Thanksgiving!

Today has been a great Thanksgiving. The only thing that would have made it better would to have been with more of my family. Alas, we are scattered to the four corners. I spent the morning making pies for the dinner at my sister-in-law's. Unfortunately it seems when we get together that few of us actually eat dessert. I'm not sure what that's all about. Fortunately, having made the pies myself this year I brought plenty home to eat later.

Today was wonderful because my in-laws put a deep hurt aside to try to help someone who had injured them who is now in need of compassion and healing. It is never easy to forgive hurt and betrayal to the ones we love by someone to whom we've extended trust. But today's experience reminded me of my deepest gratitute - for the Atonement of Christ. I am most thankful that regardless of what we've done that we can gain forgiveness. I am thankful that regardless of what has been done to us that there is a Power that can help us to forgive. And there is healing available for all of us. If we seek it.
I've thought alot this past month about how thankful I am for the rich abundance of blessings in my life. Thanksgiving is rich with memories of my childhood, of places, people, and of course food. I am as thankful for these memories as anything else and hope that my children are treasuring up their own memories as well. For all of my friends and family who read this blog - I am thankful for you and your being a part of my life. I hope that each of you find much to be thankful for today and every day.
